I was born in the small town of Sandpoint, Idaho. At the age of five I moved to Spokane, Washington where I've spent most of my life. I graduated from high school in 1985 and took a football scholarship to play for the University of Montana in Missoula. I received a B.A. in Physical Education and Math in 1990.

I took my first teaching job in Bakersfield, California at a high school with 2400 students. I moved back to Spokane in 1992 and started teaching at a middle school and have been there ever since. I married in July of 1993.

I spent five years of my life from 1990-1995 to try and build my career in teaching but missed my true love of competing in powerlifting.  1995 was a life changing year for me. I decided to do three things that were important to me: 1)start a family, 2)get my master's degree, 3) begin competing in powerlifting again. My first daughter was born in 1996. My second daughter was born in 1999.

I received a master's degree from Eastern Washington University in secondary school administration in June of 1999. I currently teach Math and P.E. and seriously thinking of changing professions. Ha.
